A couple in Throgs Neck is taking up the task of fostering dogs with special needs.
Mary and Tom Fayet may have their hands full, but they say they love it and wouldn't have it any other way. The Fayets are now fostering six dogs. They say it all started in 2005 when their dog Lexi became apart of the family.
After that, the couple says more dogs started to come in and fit well with the pack.

The couple says that even though the dogs have disabilities and need to use a wheelchair, they deserve love. However, they say the job is not for everyone.
Mary says she takes Lexi out to community events to promote fostering and adopting. She says it's important to spread the message since a lot of city shelters are at or close to capacity.
Mary says there is never a dull moment, even when life is tough. She says they have had a trying year, but with the dogs it's just better.
