Crews break ground on Bronx Greenway expansion
Construction crews broke ground inside Bronx Park Thursday on a new section of the Bronx River Greenway to run from Allerton Avenue to Unionport Road.
The $3 million project is expected to finish in late 2017.
It includes new trees, a dog run and improvements to the trail's intersections with major roads, like Pelham Parkway.
The new section will run about 1.5 miles. The full trail, expected to be finished in 2020, will span 23 miles from Westchester County into Soundview Park.
