What once was a park in the Bronx is being brought back to life as a playground in just a few months near 165th Street and Longfellow Avenue.
A groundbreaking was held Tuesday on the site that once used to be Longfellow Garden but has since fallen into disrepair.
Now, it will become Longfellow Playground thanks to over $3 million from the mayor's Community Parks Initiative - with benches, a sprinkler and a small-stage amphitheater area.
Crews are due to be working on the lot to open it this fall.
Nineteen other parks in the Bronx are due to also be worked on through the mayor's park initiative.
