Cuomo unveils NYS hand sanitizer to combat outbreak as coronavirus climbs to 142

Gov. Andrew Cuomo confirmed Monday that the number of coronavirus cases in the state has grown to at least 142.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo confirmed Monday that the number of coronavirus cases in the state has grown to at least 142.
Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday that there are at least 19 cases in New York City, but the number is likely to change by the end of the day as medical experts continue to deal with the widespread outbreak that has led to a state of emergency.
Mayor de Blasio emphasized to New Yorkers that the course of action against the virus is an ever-changing situation.
As the city tried to contain the spread on mass transit, city officials say there are steps that New Yorkers can take to avoid exposure. They say is residents must take mass transit to wait for a less crowded train or bus.

 City officials also advise residents who feel sick to not got to work or public events.
Mayor de Blasio says the most vulnerable people to the virus are those with pre-existing conditions over the age of 50. Those conditions are heart disease, lung disease, cancer, a compromised immune system and those who frequently vape.
The city will also be adding additional nurses in every school building to be on-call during after school hours.
Officials are urging New Yorkers to continue to follow basic hygiene practices like frequent hand washing, coughing and sneezing into elbows and using hand sanitizer.
Gov. Cuomo is urging residents not to panic, but to instead use common sense precautions.
