Dept. of Health asks community to help stop violence
The Department of Health is teaming up with two Bronx nonprofit organizations and five community teams to help stop violence in the borough.
Community members met Tuesday to share five proposals to help stop violence in the borough. Issues included creating jobs for young people, restorative justice in schools, community gardening and policing.
Manhattan College student Jaena-Lynn Sigue researched and proposed one of the plans to stop violence. She says she wants to create a safe space for those who have been affected by violence. She also wants community programs to help solve their issues.
The proposal with the most support will move forward with help from the Department of Health.
