Diaz sworn in as Bronx borough president

The new Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. spent his first day on the job Saturday after being elected into office two weeks ago.
"This is a culmination of over two years of really planning of getting myself prepared," Diaz said during an exclusive interview with News 12 the Bronx at his office at 851 Grand Concourse.
Although the new Bronx borough president was sworn into office only on Friday during a private ceremony, he wasted no time getting adjusted to his new role.
"I've been looking at capital requests, looking at the applications for community board, so we're excited, ready to go," he said. "We've hit the ground running, and I look forward to doing big things in the borough of the Bronx."
Diaz was an assemblyman for 13 years before being elected to fill out the term of Adolfo Carrion, who was chosen by President Barack Obama to head the White House Office on Urban Policy.
