Global investment company Digital Currency Group is relocating its headquarters from Manhattan to Stamford, Gov. Ned Lamont announced today.

The move is expected to bring more than 300 jobs to Connecticut over the next five years and create 100 jobs next year alone.

The headquarters will occupy the fourth and fifth floors of a building in the Shippan Landing complex on Harbor Drive.

Digital Currency Group was founded in 2015 and touts itself as being the epicenter of the bitcoin and blockchain industry.

The announcement comes just weeks after Philip Morris announced the relocation of its headquarters to downtown Stamford at the former UBS building.

Construction of the 90,000-square-foot site is expected to wrap up this summer.

The office space will house DCG and three of its subsidiaries.
