DOT Vision Zero expansion plan slated for East Fordham Road
The Department of Transportation says it is expanding its Vision Zero plan to East Fordham Road in the Bronx.
The DOT says Fordham Road between Washington Avenue and Southern Boulevard has a history of fatalities.
Improvements the DOT plans on making are improving crosswalks, and medians for pedestrians to cross the road safely.
According to the DOT, 27 people were either killed or seriously injured in the area between 2010 and 2014.
Other changes being proposed include improved street markings to direct cars in the right direction, and extending sidewalks.
The district manager of Community Board 6 says the board has already approved the changes and will go forward with the DOT's plan.
