Health experts in Paterson have confirmed that a worker at a popular grocery store tested positive for hepatitis A.
According to Brother’s Produce, the employee no longer works at the market, and all the produce between Sep. 30 and Oct. 5 has been thrown out.
The store says customers who shopped there during that period should throw out any produce.
In a statement issued from the market over the weekend, the Gaber family says, "Working with health officials, Brother's Produce has already sent any employees who may have been in contact with this former employee for health screening. Brothers Produce will continue to fully cooperate with health officials to assure that we take any and all steps necessary to keep our customers and employees safe."
“We are taking the situation very seriously,” says Mayor Andre Sayeg. “I, my family, we shop at Brother's Produce, so we advise anyone that came into contact with any product from the farmer's market at Brother's Produce and farmer's market that they come here."
The mayor says to go to the health department to get vaccinated.
The health department was hoping to have vaccines ready today, but that has been pushed back to this Wednesday after running out of the vaccine.
