Expansion of nonprofit homeless shelter sees progress
A new supportive housing development in the Bronx is set to open next year, but the nonprofit behind it celebrated the completion of the building's top floor Tuesday.
Breaking Ground is an organization that helps struggling families avoid homelessness.
Its new Webster Avenue development will provide about 200 homes for formerly homeless individuals in the Bronx. It's adjacent to another Breaking Ground building that houses 200 low-income families.
Altogether, the sites provide 418 housing units, 24-hour security and on-site laundry.
The supportive units are available on a referral basis.
