A winter storm warning is in effect for the five boroughs beginning Tuesday as a nor'easter takes aim at the city, providing significant snowfall impacts.
The warning goes into effect at 10 p.m. Tuesday and will last through Wednesday before coming to an end at 4 a.m. on Thursday.According to News 12 Meteorologist Mike Rizzo, the entire event should last from 2 a.m. Wednesday and finish around 11 p.m. in the evening. 
A wintry mix is expected from 2 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday with snow beginning to fall steadily from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. 
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. heavy snow and strong wind gusts will grip the region.
The storm will wrap up between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Thursday.  
The storm will begin as a wintry mix before changing to snow. Heavier snow will accumulate around 5-10 inches. 
The evening commute Wednesday is expected to be impacted by the storm and those driving should be prepared for hazardous conditions. 
Rizzo warns the snow will be heavy and those shoveling and clearing paths should exercise caution and pace themselves.
