Fairfield police say a person drowned at Lake Hills Beach early Sunday morning.

They say they were called close to 9 a.m. from Lake Hills Beach No. 1. Police say that the caller told them him and a friend had gone swimming, but the friend hadn't resurfaced for about three minutes.

Dive teams were sent out to find the victim. Police say around 12:45 p.m., 35-year-old Karlis Eltermanis, of Bridgeport, was discovered 50 feet from the shore.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fairfield police say the investigation is ongoing.
