Loved ones gathered together Sunday to keep alive the memory of a teen who was fatally shot in West Farms.
Dozens gathered to remember Vlahna Roberts at River Park, which is just blocks from the site of last year's shooting. Roberts was an innocent bystander who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Her mother and brother are trying to keep her memory alive, making shirts and buttons and bringing community members to the park where Roberts used to spend time.
Police say they have a suspect in custody for the slaying, but loved ones say more must be done to keep guns off of the streets.
State Assembly member Michael Blake and community advocates are also speaking out in an effort to keep kids safe in the coming summer months.
Roberts' brother says more events are planned in the future, including a basketball tournament planned for later this year.
