A Bronx family is defending their daughter against accusations that she took part in the beating of a pregnant woman.
Serenity Dunham, 18, and 27-year-old Tiffany Nurse are charged with robbery and attempted assault of Tylesha Mohammad, who was seven months pregnant at the time.
Dunham’s mother, Felicia Dunham, says her daughter is remorseful and has a baby of her own.
"She did not know she was pregnant and she's very sorry for what she did," Felicia said. "She wants to come home."
Dunham’s family would not discuss what led to the alleged assault or how the three women know each other.
Mohammad and her unborn baby survived the Feb. 1 attack.
Both suspects are expected to appear in court this Friday.
