Family of slain teen demands justice
The family of a 17-year-old who was fatally shot in June is demanding justice as they approach the three-month anniversary of her death.
Vlahna Roberts, a Truman High School student, was shot in the back on June 2 after a large fight on the 2100 block of Vyse Avenue, just three blocks from where she lived.
Police say there have been no arrests made in the case.
Kirk Stinson, the victim's brother, says he was with Vlahna the night she died. He says they were just hanging out when someone opened fire and struck his sister.
The family says Roberts played basketball and that she could light up a room just by walking in.
They say they are frustrated that her killer is still on the loose.
"I have to stand here with my little sisters knowing that my sister is gone," says Stinson. "Nothing will ever take away the pain, even when the killer is caught."
A community advocate dealing with police on behalf of the family says that detectives expressed to him that someone was brought in for questioning, but was eventually released.
