A Bronx family says a man attacked and tried to rob their disabled son.

Maria and Alexander Mankovetskiy say their son, Maksi, was walking near their Co-op City home when a man suddenly began to attack him. They say the man beat their son, said anti-Semitic slurs and demanded money.

The couple says Richard Richmond assaulted their son three separate times during the incident. They say the final assault was captured on doorbell camera footage.

The family says Richmond beat Maksim Mankovetskiy's head against the glass of the building as neighbors called police.

After that, the family says their son went upstairs and passed the lobby attendant. They say the lobby attendant let Richmond in after him. Richmond allegedly followed Maksim Mankovetskiy to his floor. Maksim Mankovetskiy called his father who says he turned on the doorbell camera and saw Richmond beating up his son. He quickly rushed home.

The family is suing Riverbay Corporation, saying the lobby attendant should have immediately called police and stopped Richmond from entering the building.

Maria and Alexander Mankovetskiy say their son is recovering from his physical wounds, but the attack has left the whole family shaken.

Police say Richmond has an extensive criminal history. Richmond is facing hate crime charges, along with robbery, assault, burglary and criminal trespassing.

News 12 reached out to Riverbay Corporation, and is waiting to hear back.
