The FDNY responded overnight to a fire at a high-rise in East Flatbush.
Fire trucks were parked outside the building on Albany Avenue early Sunday morning.
The FDNY says the fire started in the compactor of the 14-story building.
Emergency vehicles lined Albany Avenue as fire crews rushed inside. Witnesses say smoke could be seen coming from under the building.
"The smoke was coming in real heavy. As soon as I woke my daughter up and my wife, I looked back and the whole doorway to the kitchen was filled with smoke,” said a tenant.
News 12 was told at least three people were hurt and sent to the hospital.
There is no word yet on their condition or the cause of the fire.
