An FDNY firefighter who works at a Brooklyn firehouse has tested positive for coronavirus.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said the firefighter worked Sunday-Tuesday of this week, went home with symptoms Tuesday and tested positive. Thirty-one members of the firehouse who had contact with him are now quarantined. The firehouse is now operational again.

The number of cases in New York City is now at least 183, with 30 people hospitalized, including 18 in the ICU. De Blasio says 80% of the hospitalized cases are patients over 50 with pre-existing medical conditions.

Meanwhile, earlier today New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the first death from coronavirus in the state, an 82-year-old woman with underlying respiratory illness. She was treated at a New York City hospital.

On Friday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that New York will be ramping up testing.
