FDNY rescues cat from Bronx rooftop after being stuck for 2 weeks
A cat that was stuck on top of a 100-foot roof in the Bronx has been rescued after nearly three weeks.
The FDNY confirmed Thursday the cat was rescued from the roof of an old juvenile correctional facility in Hunts Point despite several unsuccessful rescue attempts over the past two weeks in which the cat simply hid from firefighters.
Firefighters tried to retrieve the feline Monday afternoon, but the cat hid from them when they reached the roof. They previously made an attempt to rescue the cat last week.
The firefighters say they also left food and a blanket on the roof.
A neighborhood animal caretaker, who was especially worried about the cat, brought a cage up to the roof Wednesday with food inside. Officials say they found the cat in the cage today.
