A fire broke out at a Pelham Parkway apartment building just after 4:15 p.m. on Monday and damaged multiple units, according to the FDNY.
Fire officials say the fire started on the fifth floor of the seven-story building at 601 Pelham Pkwy. between Bronx Park East and Barker Avenue.
Over 100 fire and EMS personnel responded to the fire. No injuries have been reported at this time. Officials say that four apartments on the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh floors were damaged.
Fire crews tell News 12 that the size of the building initially posed a challenge but that they were able to get the fire fully under control and safely evacuate everyone.
“They helped me down, thank God, because it would have been impossible for me to get down on my own, I would have fallen,” said apartment owner Olga Rodriguez.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
