Firefighters battled flames at an Island Park auto shop Friday evening.
Officers say the fire started around 5 p.m. at Freeport Transmissions on Long Beach Road.
Employees tried to put it out with an extinguisher, but police say those inside failed to put out the fire and the flames quickly spread.
