Fordham freshmen plunge into Bronx service project

Fordham University freshmen found time during a hectic time in their lives to help out in their community this week.
New students took part in Fordham’s Urban Plunge program, a service project throughout the Bronx that is designed to integrate them into the neighborhood while they begin a new chapter of their lives on a college campus
On Friday, students got their hands dirty working at Bissel Gardens, while learning about the surrounding community.
Heather Dombrowa, a Bissel Gardens board member, says she hopes the students leave the program feeling a connection to the Bronx and to the Earth.
Freshmen at Fordham moved in just one day ago and begin classes on Aug. 30.
