The MTA announced it has finished upgrades at the Fordham station in the Bronx.

The upgrades include a temperature-controlled commuter refuge area where straphangers can adjust the heat and a wider platform area that expanded from 10 feet to 19 feet.

New LED lighting has been added to the station's elevators. Rail-time information monitors were also added.

Metro-North says a new artistic fence is also on display. The piece was created by Brooklyn artist Dan Funderburgh and depicts imagery of flowers that are seen at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. 

Ivy Dawson, a commuter who uses the Fordham station, says it's a nice look to the area. "I know people in the community will be appreciative of the new improvements," she says.
