Fordham University to offer race, culture inclusion class
Fordham University will be offering students a course that encourages inclusion, after a handful of racially charged incidents.
"The Bronx: Immigration, Race and Culture" was spearheaded by student activists, focusing on the migration of different groups to the borough. Students are also wearing armbands to promote tolerance on campus.
Professor Mark Naison says he hopes the course will challenge those hard-to-break stereotypes.
"I think it's going to spread knowledge about the surrounding community and encourage students to get into community, explore it and make contacts with people...It's going to make Fordham more open," says Naison.
The course will be offered to students starting in fall 2016.
