Funeral held for deli worker killed in shooting
Dozens gathered Wednesday to say goodbye to a Bronx deli worker who was shot on the job two weeks ago.
The suspect shot onto a sidewalk in front of the Morrison Avenue deli where Victor Chafla worked in Soundview. Innocent bystanders ducked out of the way of the bullets, but one of them hit Chafla as he was restocking fruits outside the shop.
A funeral was held for Chafla at the R.G. Ortiz Funeral Home in Mott Haven. Chafla's wife and most of his children are back home in Ecuador.
One arrest has been made in the case, but police are still looking for the person who pulled the trigger.
Anyone with information that can help people catch Chafla's killer should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
