The first hip-hop museum is set to open in about three years, right where it all started -- in the Bronx.
Now, the state is pitching in some cash to make sure the project is completed on time. Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a $3.7 million grant Friday for the Universal Hip-Hop Museum.
It's set to be built in the empty parking lot off the Major Deegan Expressway by 149th Street, and the Harlem River.
However, while the $80 million institution isn't set to open until 2023, it is currently operating in a temporary space inside the Bronx Terminal Market.
The groundbreaking for the development set to house the museum is set for this summer.
