Cynthia Nixon went after Gov. Andrew Cuomo from every angle during the Democratic primary debate Wednesday night at Hofstra University.

She attacked on many fronts including health care, corruption, education and the city's subway system. The governor fought back, charging that Nixon's campaign promises just aren't feasible due to legal and financial constraints.

Nixon accused Cuomo of lying multiple times and routinely interrupted the governor during the debate. For his part, Cuomo accused Nixon of calling in favors to the New York City mayor's office.

Both candidates voiced their displeasure with President Donald Trump. Cuomo says he's led the charge against the White House; Nixon said the governor hasn't fought the White House hard enough.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, who supports Cuomo, said that Nixon failed to offer any solutions for suburban voters. But Nixon's senior campaign strategist said she is offering the types of solutions for which Democratic voters are asking.

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. also threw his support behind Cuomo.

During the debate, Cuomo promised that he would serve the full four-year term if re-elected and not seek a White House bid in 2020.

The primary election will be held on Sept. 13. The winner faces Republican Marc Molinaro and independent Stephanie Miner in the November election.

Neither Cuomo nor Nixon spoke to reporters after the debate.

"The basic dynamic of the race didn't change," says Hofstra political analyst Larry Levy. "Andrew Cuomo came in here as the front-runner, and he left here as the front runner."
