Connecticut Gov.-elect Ned Lamont on Thursday unveiled a diverse transition team that includes religious leaders and a former political rival.

Among those named include former Bridgeport City Council President Tom McCarthy and state Rep. Chris Rosario.

Also on the list is former State Police spokesman J. Paul Vance and Republican New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart. Stewart briefly made a bid for governor.

"We have Republicans and Democrats, and it's a group from all over the state, and cities as well as our small towns," says Lamont. "Because we are a small state, we're in this together."

Earlier this week, Lamont met with several city mayors, including Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim.

"We talked about the needs of Bridgeport, the needs of the cities, the needs of Connecticut," says Ganim. "How do we keep property taxes down?  How do we build a better public transportation system?"

Lamont has also met with the state's top CEOs. His transition team is headed by an executive from Westport's Bridgewater hedge fund.
