Grand Concourse project enters next phase
Construction crews are hard at work making the Grand Concourse near 166th Street a nicer and safer place.
After recently finishing up a "Corridor Safety Improvement Project" near East 165th Street, the Department of Transportation has now entered phase two of its project.
The DOT is raising the medians, adding pedestrian islands, as well as planters and bike lanes with buffers from East 166th Street to East 171st.

Phase three will begin on East 171st Street and go all the way down to 175th Street. It is expected to start next fiscal year, and take a total of two years.
