Video obtained by News 12 shows how two men were able to stop a gunman who fatally shot a construction worker in City Island.
The gunman Jose Everaldo Reyes, 66, allegedly shot and killed Lizbeth Mass Wednesday at a construction site on City Island.
News 12 is told the gunman wanted to be more than friends with Mass, but police have yet to confirm that information.
Video shows Reyes being struck and dragged with a vehicle driven by Mass’s boyfriend. Another angle shows the car reversing with a door open.
After Reyes tumbled off the car and is dragged across the street, another man runs over and tackled Reyes toward the vehicle and starts to punch him repeatedly.
Some News 12 viewers called the actions “street justice,” while others were just shocked by the incidents.
One of her neighbors tells News 12 that Mass loved her job and leaves behind a daughter.
Mass’s uniform is sitting at the construction site surrounded by flowers as a memorial.
Reyes faces a list of charges including murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
