Ground broken on City Island beautification project
Officials broke ground Wednesday on the southern end of City Island, which will soon be open to sightseers.
The work at Belden Point is part of a beautification project that will bring a "green street" plaza, bicycle racks, new railings along the waterfront and other enhancements.
Visitors will be able to take in a breathtaking view of the Long Island Sound.
The project is long overdue, according to many locals who say they have been waiting 10 years to finally view the Long Island Sound from Belden Point.
The project, which will include rebuilding part of the shoreline to prevent flooding, is expected to be completed in the spring of 2016.
