There's a push to reopen restrooms at a busy subway station at the Mosholu Parkway subway station.
The structure has been there since the Mosholu Parkway was built, and residents say the facility needs to be repaired and reopened. The restrooms have been closed for several years.
Elizabeth Quaranta, of Friends of Mosholu Parkland, says some people choose to relieve themselves outside because of the lack of restrooms at the busy station.
One resident said he's glad he lives nearby and doesn't have to search for a restroom when he gets off the train.
“People still choose to go to the bathroom everywhere, when I mean everywhere, I mean the walls, even next to the platforms,” he says.
Others aren't so sure reopening the old lavatory is a good idea because of the facility's remote location.
Friends of Mosholu Parkland is now working with local officials to get funding allocated in the budget to reopen the restrooms for the public.
