Gushing fire hydrant in Throgs Neck fixed
A fire hydrant in Throgs Neck that was gushing water for weeks has finally been fixed.
The hydrant is located at the corner of Randall and Calhoun avenues.
The Department of Environmental Protection previously went out to the hydrant three times to fix it to no avail.
Crews were back at the scene, opening up the ground to make the repair. As of Wednesday night, the hydrant had stopped spewing water.
Residents nearby say they tried calling 311 for weeks, but no immediate response was given.
As previously reported, News 12 received a call from a viewer a little more than a week ago. Less than 48 hours later, crews were at the scene starting repair work.
