Health officials held a meeting Monday night after three cases of tuberculosis at P.S. 112 prompted parents to pull their kids out of school in fear that they may contract the respiratory disease.

Health officials held a meeting Monday night after three cases of tuberculosis at P.S. 112 prompted parents to pull their kids out of school in fear that they may contract the respiratory disease.
The city's Health Department sought to reassure them that it's very hard to contract the disease.
They say they are offering skin and blood tests for all students on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1., but there is an eight-week incubation period before the illness will show up on tests.
Students from at least one other school may also have been exposed. The Edenwald after-school program mixes students from P.S. 111 and P.S. 112.
The president of the Edenwald Association says that the school never notified the Edenwald Center of the problem.
The Health Department recommends seeing a doctor immediately if you have any symptoms like coughing, chills or a fever.
