Neo-natal professionals are working to lower the infant mortality rate in the Bronx, which is higher than any other borough in the city.
Representatives from Montefiore and Community Board 10 came together Tuesday for "Infant Loss Awareness Month" to give away free strollers in Amendola Plaza in Pelham Bay.
Health professionals also demonstrated safe-sleeping and breastfeeding practices. They say pre-natal care for mothers is essential.
The city Department of Health says some contributing factors to a higher infant mortality rate include the mother's weight, income and age.
Data shows the city's rates have declined in the last decade.
