Bronx residents had the opportunity Sunday to get a free checkup.
The North Bronx 7th Day Adventist Church on Bronxwood Avenue held a health expo in its parking lot.
The event was geared toward the elderly and people with disabilities, but was open to everyone.
Community members who suffered life-threatening ailments helped educate their neighbors about how to live healthier lives. Doctors and physical therapists were also on site to give advice.
Participants say they were honored to help those who in need.
"This is my motivation," said Dr. Linet Ojwang. "Touching lives that are not able to be touched by other people. Maybe they cannot go to the hospital or are not financially stable to go to the doctor.”
Attendees had the opportunity to get vision examinations, blood pressure tests, physical therapy and receive information about Medicare and Medicaid available to the community.
