An ongoing heat wave stretched into Tuesday, baking the borough with temperatures in the 90s for the fifth-straight day.
News 12 spoke with residents as they tried to stay cool on a sweltering day with water, hats and sunglasses.
Many packed Orchard Beach -- hiding behind sunscreen or under umbrellas to keep safe in the blazing heat. Many people there brought bottled water or seltzer.
In Hunts Point, some residents had other ideas.
"If you don't have to go to work, if you don't have to take your kids to the park -- stay home in your AC," said Jacqueline Rabaza. "It's dangerous out here."
Wednesday highs will top out around 87, marking a possible end to the heat wave.
There will be a chance of thunderstorms, but skies are expected to clear up in time for the Macy's fireworks display over the East River.
