A Hillsborough firefighter has died in the line of duty following a call to put out a car fire.

A Hillsborough firefighter has died in the line of duty following a call to put out a car fire. 
Units responded Wednesday to 2124 Camplain Road for a motor vehicle fire
The Hillsborough Fire District says Assistant Chief William Shaffer suffered a medical emergency at the scene of the fire. 
He was taken to a hospital, but later died. 
Chief Shaffer was a member of Hillsborough Fire Company #2 and served as a firefighter in the township for over 35 years. 
He leaves behind a wife and three children.
