Homeless seek shelter amid bitter cold
Hundreds of homeless people in the Bronx are looking for places to take shelter as frigid temperatures and high winds invade the borough.
Latisha Watson and Shanika McLauren are two single mothers who waited all day outside the homeless shelter on East 151st Street, hoping to get themselves and their children out of the cold.
They say they received the runaround as they tried to claim spots in the shelter and were hoping to get inside before their kids got sick.
Earlier Tuesday, Mayor Bill de Blasio issued Code Blue for the city, urging residents to call 311 if they see any homeless people in need of help.
