Honeywell Ave. tenants fed up living without heat, hot water
The tenants at 2103 Honeywell Ave. in West Farms are demanding that something be done to fix the boiler in their building.
Tenants have been living for weeks without heat or hot water. They are walking around their apartments wrapped in blankets and say they are emotionally drained from the situation.
The tenants say they sleep with hats, gloves, scarves and blankets and still can't keep warm. They say they have called 311 many times and nothing gets done. The tenants tell News 12 they sometimes turn to dangerous measures like leaving the oven on to heat their apartments.
A representative from the Department of Housing, Preservation and Development was at the building and told News 12 the hot water had just been turned back on.
Regardless, the tenants say enough is enough and are demanding better living conditions.
