A Hudson Valley transgender woman who reached out to News 12 last week for help getting her new legal name recognized at work says the problem has now been solved.
Joy DeRosa, 41, says the Dollar General in Marlboro immediately updated her name in her online profile and on all her work documents after our report last Thursday.
“I woke up in the morning and checked it and it was changed right away in 12 hours,” said DeRosa.
The hamlet of Wallkill woman says she was trying to get the company to update her records for weeks before she reached out and says since our story – she’s also gotten a ton of support.
“A lot of customers all saw the story and told me that they were really proud of me and to keep standing up and doing what’s best for me,” said DeRosa.
A representative for Dollar General says that Joy’s name was changed as quickly as possible and that the company values the diversity in their workplace.
