Hundreds race in Urban Environmental Challenge 10K
Hundreds of runners came together for the 14th annual Urban Environmental Challenge 10K race Sunday morning.
Bette Clark, one of the race directors, says that the course at Van Cortlandt Park is very hilly and is not recommended for runners under the age of 16.
Clark says she hopes the race will help increase people's awareness of the park's woods and wildlife.
After the runners crossed the finish line, they were able to indulge in some carrot cake provided by Lloyd's, one of the race's sponsors.
Greg Thierry was the first to finish the race with a time of 38 minutes, 45 seconds.
