Hunts Point rehab to shut down
Patients and workers at a Hunts Point rehabilitation clinic are scrambling for alternatives after learning the clinic will be shut down for good.
The Carmen Iris Capeles Treatment Center currently has more than 400 people recovering from various addictions, and physical and psychological illnesses. Workers say they're working frantically to get all of the patients transferred to other facilities.
A union representative says the clinic's parent company, Hunts Point Multiservice Center, Inc., lied about plans to shut down for months, and then gave employees only a few weeks notice that they'd be out of a job.
