Infant critical after alleged baseball bat attack
Police say a young family was attacked Tuesday morning while walking to a pharmacy in Soundview.
Officials say that just after midnight, a young couple left a building they were visiting on Noble Avenue and walking toward a Rite Aid pharmacy with their two children when they were brutally attacked.
Officials say that the father was attacked by a man with a baseball bat while he was holding his 2-month-old son. The suspect or suspects then fled the scene.
The mother and the couple's 1-year-old daughter were not harmed.
Police say the 2-month-old baby boy was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center with head trauma and is in critical condition. They are still investigating the incident.
