The lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001 were remembered and honored at a ceremony at Jacobi Medical Center Wednesday.

Dozens of victims’ relatives gathered at the hospital to honor those from the Bronx who lost their lives on that tragic day.

The ceremony took place at the Memorial Garden at the Jacobi Medical Center Campus, where loved ones and officials came together for a moment of silence, prayers and the ceremonial laying of flowers. The names of Bronx residents who perished in the World Trade Center attack were read aloud.

This year also raised awareness for the suffering of the hundreds of firefighters, police and first responders who have died or fell ill after dealing with the wreckage and toxic fumes at Ground Zero.

President Donald Trump recently signed a bill reassuring money will always be available for all those first responders.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has also put into law that from now on all school are required to provide a moment of silence as a way to teach the younger generation of the time that changed New York City.
