NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi is offering affordable dental care to kids with the help of a $2.5 million government-funded grant.

Dr. Victor Badner, the department chair of dentistry at Jacobi, says the hospital applied for the grant to help children in the Bronx who aren't getting the dental care they need.

"It's the county that scores the lowest on health metrics in New York state," Badner says.

Jacobi has served about 2,500 children since receiving the grant. The doctors' work also includes speaking with parents about their oral health and educating them about good brushing habits and dietary counseling.

"Unfortunately there's still a lot of work to be done, but I think we've accomplished a lot here at Jacobi," Badner says.
