First lady of the United States Jill Biden took a tour of the Bronx Children’s Museum on Wednesday as it announced its grand opening.
Jill Biden was accompanied by Supreme Court justice and Bronx native Sonia Sotomayor, who has her own feature in the museum, as well as Bronx borough president Vanessa Gibson.
The museum displayed its immersive remade experience of the Harlem River as well as the Bronx’s native animals, famous delis, and even the famous “casita” a display resembling the houses from the native countries that make up the Bronx.
“We are getting the credibility and the recognition that we deserve as a borough,” said Gibson. “To open the first Bronx Children’s Museum is historic. It’s taken quite a long time, but to see the doors of this museum open is a beacon of opportunity and hope.”
