Knife-wielding man shot by police in Throgs Neck
A man was injured after a police-involved shooting in the Bronx Wednesday.
Police say they chased 25-year-old Carlos Colon into the Throgs Neck houses on Dewey Avenue around 1 a.m.
Police say they saw Colon carrying a knife and ordered him to stop, but he did not listen.
Officers say the suspect began to cut himself with the knife and threaten to kill himself so officers attempted to taze him.
However, police say the Taser had no effect on Colon, and he continued to walk toward officers with the knife so they were forced to shoot him in the leg.
Police say even after being shot, Colon refused to drop the knife and officers tazed him again.
He was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition, according to police.
Police say Colon may have been under the influence of a controlled substance.
No officers were injured during the incident.
