Lambert Houses slated for major improvements
Residents living in the Lambert Houses in West Farms are celebrating Friday after learning their complex is about to undergo a major renovation.
The housing complex is slated for a $600 million overhaul that will take place over the next 10 years. The project came to fruition thanks to city Councilman Ritchie Torres.
"The redevelopment will make the Lambert houses the single largest housing development in the mayor's 10-year housing plan," says Torres.
Plans for the complex include new buildings, a school inside the development and nearly 1,000 more affordable apartments. There will also be fewer ways to get into the complex as part of a new safety initiative. Residents say they just hope everything from doors to elevators are fixed.
Councilman Torres says parks and sidewalks will also get an overhaul.
