A $72 million investment has three R line subway stations looking fresh, but some straphangers are criticizing the MTA for installing leaning bars instead of benches.
The bars are supposed to keep homeless people from camping inside the station while still allowing people to take some weight off their feet.
But critics say they're uncomfortable and do little to help elderly and disabled people take a break.
Other upgrades are more popular. They include new lights, glass barriers and USB ports.
